What to expect
Koneswaram stands on Swami Rock, a cliff at the tip of the Trincomalee peninsula, and is one of the most important Hindu temples in Sri Lanka.
The road up passes through Fort Frederick, where spotted deer wander between the old colonial buildings. From the cliff top you look straight down onto the open ocean.
