What to expect
Uppuveli is the long, gently curving beach just north of Trincomalee town, and the easiest part of your stay: walk out of the gate and you are on the sand in about five minutes.
Mornings belong to the fishermen hauling in their nets. By afternoon the water is calm enough for an easy swim, and in the evening the beachfront cafés set out tables for grilled seafood.
